The machine keeps one kind of time and capital keeps another. For most of the industrial era the mismatch was small enough to ignore. It is not small anymore.
Whether the coming decade belongs to the technocapitalist machine or to something that outgrows it is not a question the machine can answer about itself. That is rather the point of the essays gathered in this issue.
